Microsoft Teams is Great but what about my phone calls?

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

Over the past few months, we have seen MS Teams adoption go through the roof and understandably. But there are still areas where MS Teams falls a little short, predominantly around telephony, and the marketplace is jam-packed with ways to overcome this shortfall. The problem is there are several ways to do this and several things to consider when choosing your solution. So, let’s explore some of the why’s and where’s based on your current telephony system.

If you have an existing UC system that has been integrated into your business apps and it would be extremely complex and/or too costly to move from, then you may want to look at an overlay integrator that plugs into MS Teams. This allows you to make and receive calls, using SIP to channel back to the PBX, be it physical or virtual/cloud-based, allowing you to have the best of both worlds.

You may have an aging Telephony solution that is hard to use, very basic functions and does not let you upgrade easily or at all. You also are moving to more of a cloud-based (as a Service) way of working and are looking at MS 365 but still want an open Unified Comms solution that can integrate with other software solutions. There are a good number of credible solutions out there, that still let you choose either path without compromising features and functions.

Needing a truly global UC solution and already have MS Teams as the corporate standard? This is an area where true Cloud-based UCaaS solutions come into their own, giving you the flexibility to configure call flows, monitor and manage across your whole organisation. Massively cost-effective call plans that are not complex or limiting, allowing for your organisation to be flexible without compromising your MS Teams deployment.

Maybe you have rushed MS Teams out because of the current situation and now need to bring your telephony requirements into the mix. Again, this is not a problem and also could save you money overall with call plans and licensing.

These are all good reasons to investigate how best you can integrate not just MS Teams, but many other Cloud-based and API driven applications like Salesforce and not isolate yourselves from having a choice.

With so many options for each scenario and communication being critical in the world we now find ourselves in, it is imperative to make the right decision. At Tagoro we help you make these decisions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. letushelp@tagoro.co.uk 0203 774 9003
